We joined Indigenous and Frontline Communities in Ceremony and a Walk for our Water

We were honoured to join a Water Walk and water ceremony organized by Indigenous Climate Action, as part of a week of programming surrounding the RBC AGM in Toronto. Led by Indigenous Elders and Matriarchs, we joined the Indigenous and Black delegation in a water ceremony for Lake Ontario, at the the Toronto Harbourfront. We prayed for our water, here in Tkaronto, and in all the communities of delegates. RBCs fossil fuel financing and resource extraction threatens our water. Water is life!
After the ceremony, we walked through the streets of Torontro, stopping at the RBC headquarters to hear from Wet’suwet’en hereditary Chief Na’Moks and land defenders. RBC is funding Coastal Gaslink, which threatens the sacred Wed’zin Kwa River on the Wet’suwet’en Yintah.
We then stopped at the St Regis Hotel, where rich and powerful people from banks, insurance providers, and the oil and gas industry gathered for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers conference. We delivered a clear message: Land Back now!
Thank you ICA for your leadership in organizing this walk.
